It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on the Commentary. Here they are …

#1 – I appreciate the well-wishers from up north as Hurricane Milton prepares to make landfall here in Florida later today. Quite obviously it’s a first for me so I’m just going with the flow, so to speak.

Florida hasn’t had two hurricanes this close together in over 20 years and I’m starting to get the mentality here. You all wonder why anyone would live in the Sunshine State with the threat of devastation looming every Fall. I just to wonder the same thing?

Well for many, it’s where they were born and raised so you can see why they stay despite the storm threat. For the transplants, they came here because it’s so awesome! So it makes the other 363 or 364 days per year worth it.

So now, we wait …

#2 – When the USA Today predicted the New York Jets to be in the Super Bowl this year, I scratched my head. It didn’t make sense then, it sure doesn’t make sense now after the Gotham Green fired head coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday following a 2-3 start.

Nobody had that on their bingo card. In fact Jacksonville’s Doug Pederson was the oddsmakers’ choice to be the first one fired. The Jaguars even have a worse record than New York.

But that’s what we love about sports – its unpredictability.

And it seems to me quarterback Aaron Rodgers got another coach fired.

And #3 – The Florida Panthers picked up where they left off last night. They skated circles around a bewildered Boston team, building up a 5-1 lead in the second period and holding on for a 6-4 win.

It was neat to be in the building to see the Stanley Cup banner raised, and then it was great to get back home in time to watch Utah win its first ever NHL game, 5-2 over Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks. (Despite the loss, Bedard netted a pair of assists and is on pace now for 164 points).

It feels darn good to have hockey back; storm or no storm.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 4 pm ET on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)

#2 makes perfect sense and should come as no shock. Mr. Johnson the Owner; who pulled that trigger on his own and in fact shockingly he didn’t do it faster. It’s one thing if the field workers are going to complain. It’s another thing when the Owner’s Overseer steps out of line. What I can state is when the 32 Owners are Billionaires and it’s possibly either 3/4 of them are belonging to the same community – i.e, Robert Kraft/Arthur Blank. Guaranteed 100% in these teams finance and legal departments are. Mr Salah decided to virtue signal. Mr Salah didn’t… Read more »
