WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY: THE GOOD, THE GREAT AND THE UGLY

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)

IT’S TIME FOR ANOTHER EDITION OF THE GOOD, THE GREAT AND THE UGLY.

FIRST THE GOOD: I’M HAPPY TO KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE HEARING MY MESSAGE. THAT WAS THE MESSAGE TO DISGRUNTLED RIDER FANS WHO ARE UPSET WITH THE TEAM’S 8-4 RECORD AND THREE GAME WINNING STREAK.

READ THAT AGAIN.

SOME BLASTED ME FOR SAYING THAT STANCE IS THE OPPOSITE OF MY MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKING MANTRA WHICH USES MY DAD’S FAMOUS QUOTE, “IT’S NEVER GOOD ENOUGH.”

HEY LOOK – FEEL FREE TO SIT AND STEW ABOUT THE ROUGHRIDERS’ OFFENSIVE LINE STRUGGLES. MAYBE IT’S RUINING YOUR LIFE, BUT YOU’RE NOT THE COACH NOR THE GM.

TRUTH BE TOLD, I THINK THE RIDERS ARE DOING THE BEST THEY CAN WHICH IS ALL MY DAD EVER ASKED. YOU DON’T NEED TO BE PERFECT, JUST GIVE YOUR ALL.

AGAIN, I’M JUST HAPPY PEOPLE ARE LISTENING.

NEXT, THE GREAT: CAREY PRICE HAS RETURNED TO THE MONTREAL CANADIENS, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO TIMETABLE FOR HIS RETURN TO THE ICE. AND HIS TEAMMATES DON’T CARE; THEY’RE JUST GLAD TO HAVE HIM BACK.

I WAS A LITTLE SHOCKED THAT CAREY WAS AS OPEN ABOUT HIS STRUGGLES AS HE WAS ON MONDAY, SAYING SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS IN FACT THE REASON HE ENTERED THE PLAYER ASSISTANCE PROBLEM AND THAT HE NEGLECTED HIS MENTAL HEALTH FOR FAR TOO LONG.

HEY, IT’S ALL TRUE! AND IT’S GREAT BECAUSE ONCE YOU GET THOSE THINGS OFF YOUR CHEST, YOU START TO HEAL.

LISTEN CLOSELY: YOU DON’T START TO HEAL UNTIL YOU FACE YOUR ISSUES RIGHT SQUARE IN THE EYE. CAREY PRICE IS DOING THAT, AND I LOVE HIM FOR IT.

I THINK HE’S GOING TO BE OKAY.

AND LASTLY, THE UGLY: SHEESH, THERE’S SO MUCH OF IT IN SPORTS RIGHT NOW BUT I’D SAY THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS PACKERS QUARTERBACK AARON RODGERS WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID, MISSED LAST WEEK’S GAME, AND HAS BEEN FINED FOR FLOUTING THE NFL’S COVID PROTOCOLS.

I LITERALLY, AT THIS TIME, HAVE NO OPINION ON MR. RODGERS. I GET AND RESPECT WHERE HE’S COMING FROM, BUT CAN’T CONDONE HIS BEING MISLEADING REGARDING HIS VACCINATION STATUS.

FOR THE PAST YEAR OR SO I THOUGHT THE WORLD WOULD COME BACK STRONGER FROM COVID BUT I’VE GOT A LOT OF FRIENDS WHO FEEL THIS VIRUS HAS SO BADLY BROKEN SOCIETY THAT THERE’S NO COMING BACK.

GOSH, I HOPE THEY’RE WRONG.

These commentaries are manna from heaven. In reverse order. The ugly: society was always society. With 24/7 open access to witness the social media virtue signallying, anti authority, anti society, anti collectives good, anti intellectualism we get what we get. Great thing is there is and always will be a way back because the truth does not have to answer questions. Turn off the noise, keep the circle small, and only deal with people, places or things that bring something to the table. This is all pampered adult infants whining. It really is not that bad out there. If this… Read more »

Why is a struggle year in year out for the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club to be consistent?
Answer – there is way too much backroom meddling and the hiring of the wrong people in critical management positions. Bloated management very unnecessary. Background meddlers always needing their puppet string lackeys to make sure they don’t miss out on their free loading perks.
