WEDNESDAY DUB ROUND-UP

PORTLAND, Ore. – Noah Boyko scored the shootout winner to lift the Prince George Cougars to a 5-4 comeback win over the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday.

Ondrej Becher scored twice for the Cougars (7-7-0), including the game-tying goal to send it to overtime. Carter MacAdams and Chase Wheatcroft also scored one apiece. Ty Young made 36 saves in the win.

Marcus Nguyen scored two goals to lead Portland (8-1-1-1) while Gabe Klassen and Luke Schelter each added one. Jan Spunar stopped 27 shots.

After going up 2-1 in the second period, Prince George found itself down 4-2 midway through the third. Wheatcroft and Becher’s goals gave the Cougars just the shot they needed to win. Following a scoreless overtime, Boyko netted his side’s third goal of the shootout to win it after consecutive misses from the Winterhawks.

SILVERTIPS 6 WHEAT KINGS 3

BRANDON, MAN. – Ryan Hofer notched a hat trick to lead the way as Everett halted a Brandon comeback. After being down 3-0 early, the Wheat Kings (6-8-1) were only down 4-3 entering the third before Austin Roest scored followed by Hofer’s third of the night to secure the win for the Silvertips (9-5-0).

BRONCOS 5 GIANTS 4 (OT)

SWIFT CURRENT, SASK. – Sam McGinley knocked in the game-winning goal at 2:57 in overtime period as Swift Current (6-7-0) edged Vancouver (5-7-2-2). Caleb Wyrostok scored two goals while Reid Dyck made 40 saves in Broncos win.

BLADES 5 AMERICANS 1

SASKATOON, SASK. – Trevor Wong scored once while adding two assists as Saskatoon (11-3-0) downed Tri-City (6-8-0). Aidan De La Gorgendiere, Brandon Lisowsky, Ben Saunderson and Rowan Calvert also scored for the Blades.
