WEDNESDAY DUB ROUND-UP: ICE MELT BRONCOS
WINNIPEG – Matthew Savoie had a goal and an assist as the Winnipeg Ice scored all five of their goals in the second period en route to a 5-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday.
Evan Friesen, Owen Pederson, Josh Medernach and Ben Zloty added the others for Winnipeg (41-7-1), winner of four straight.
Daniel Hauser made 28 saves.
Connor Hvidston scored twice, on the power play and short-handed, while Caleb Wyrostok contributed another for Swift Current (25-23-1-2).
After a six-save opening period, Reid Dyck gave up four goals on his next 15 shots faced just 11:48 into the second. Joey Rocha stopped 13-of-14 shots in relief.

CHIEFS 6 WINTERHAWKS 2
SPOKANE, WA. – Berkly Catton had two goals and an assist to lead the lowly Spokane Chiefs to a 6-2 win over the formidable Portland Winterhawks.
Grady Lane, Mac Gross, Cade Hayes and Ty Cheveldayoff also scored for Spokane (10-35-2-4) Dawson Cowan made 25 saves.
Marcus Nguyen and James Stefan replied for Portland (36-12-2-2). Dante Giannuzzi surrendered five goals on 21 shots in the opening 27:09 of the game before Jan ?punar took his place and stopped 14-of-14 shots.

HURRICANES 3 HITMEN 0
LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. – Bryan Thomson earned a 36-save shutout as the Lethbridge Hurricanes downed the struggling Calgary Hitmen 3-0.
Logan Wormald, Cole Shepard and Anton Astashevich found the back of the net for Lethbridge (29-18-3-3).
Ethan Buenaventura stopped 23 of 25 shots for Calgary (23-23-5-2), which has lost 10 in a row.

ROCKETS 5 SILVERTIPS 2
KELOWNA, B.C. – Andrew Cristall scored four goals to fuel the Kelowna Rockets’ 5-2 win over the Everett Silvertips.
Gabriel Szturc added the other along with three assists for Kelowna (18-30-3), which got 41 saves from Jari Kykkanen.
Jackson Berezowski scored twice for Everett (27-23-2). Tyler Palmer surrendered four goals on 20 shots in the first two periods before Tim Metzger stopped 3-of-3 shots in relief.
