WEDNESDAY EYE-OPENER

Frederick Andersen had to make just 17 saves for the third shutout of his career as the Anaheim Ducks downed the Vancouver Canucks 4-0. Matt Beleskey, Kyle Palmieri, Rickard Rakell and Patrick Maroon scored for Anaheim. The Ducks are still tops in the NHL’s overall standings and have won six straight and eight of their last nine. Ryan Miller stopped 20 shots for Vancouver.

Charlie Coyle’s goal late in the third period was the winner as the Minnesota Wild snapped a two-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Nino Niederreiter also scored for the Wild, who have only three wins to show from their last 11 games. Boyd Gordon responded for the Oilers, who saw a rare two-game winning streak come to an end.

Earlier, rookie Johnny Gaudreau scored twice to lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 victory over Buffalo. Also, David Perron and Brandon Sutter scored power-play goals less than four minutes apart as Pittsburgh rallied to a 5-3 win over Winnipeg. The Jets had their five-game winning streak snapped. And Carey Price made 40 saves to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 victory over Dallas.

The Toronto Raptors are rolling again. DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points and Kyle Lowry added 19 leading the Raptors to a 104-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Toronto has won three straight for the first time since December 21.

John Wall had 21 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds, and the Washington Wizards rallied from a 19-point deficit to send the LA Lakers to their ninth straight loss, 98-92. Bradley Beal scored 19 points for the Wizards, who won their fifth straight over the Lakers with a tenacious fourth quarter.
