Wednesday’s Episode #717 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – featured a star studded lineup at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and special guest Alanna Nolan – longtime host of Flames TV & Stampeders TV, who’s moving onto Toronto – joined the set to discuss these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tuesday NHL leftovers, 2) Tuesday WHL & AJHL leftovers!, 3) Randy’s Road Trip kicks off in Calgary, 4) The Raptors five game road trip wraps up at the L.A. Clippers, 5) Canada/Edmonton is out in the BCLA tournament at WinSport Arena, and 6) The Blue Jays lookahead and free agency wrap.
  • Alanna spent a decade as host of Stampeders TV and got into her side of the heated Roughriders/Stampeders rivalry and said what sticks with her the most is the painful loss to Saskatchewan in the 2013 West Final. She owns two Grey Cup rings but scowled at losing three Grey Cups which is evidence she’s a competitor! She’s spent the past five seasons as host of Flames TV and said it’s tough to leave Calgary with the Flames boasting a Stanley Cup contender. Alanna detailed her history in rodeo, evolving into a rodeo broadcaster and how she beat the Stampeders’ door down to get a job! She and Rod also appeared on WHL On Shaw broadcasts years ago, and they’ve stayed in touch.
  • TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joined the show from Toronto to discuss the stellar play of Erik Kallgren, and said he can’t believe any Leaf fan would doubt he should start Thursday night! After Vegas got trounced in Winnipeg on Tuesday, Rod asked what’s wrong with the Golden Knights? “EVERYTHING!” Button stammered. “Where do you want me to start?” He said the Golden Knights should take a step back on this season and reassess.
  • In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer we were joined by Calgary Stampede President “Stampede Steve” McDonagh. He’s volunteered with the CS for the past 40 years but is in Year 2 as President. He discussed the scaled back Stampede the past two years due to Covid but said they plan to be at 100% this July! He also gave his best pitch as to why RP Show viewers should come out to Calgary this summer for the World’s Greatest Outdoor Show.
  • Sportsnet’s Arash Madani joined the show from Toronto for an outlook on the Blue Jays and said they’re the betting favourite to win the AL East pennant. He concluded that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is Toronto’s most popular athlete and gave a variety of reasons why. He also discussed the Blue Jays plans in free agency and gave a check mark to the GM Ross Atkins regime. He also delved into CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrose’s comments in Calgary on Tuesday and said the league’s new digital partner Genius Sports is encouraging the league to go to four downs.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Should Jaromir Jagr come out of retirement? At press time, 60% of respondents said no.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for Rockstar Supply Chain Solutions was Anne-Renee Desbiens. Wednesday’s was Alanna Nolan.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Thursday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.
