WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN – BO BENCHED, WPG JETS OUTLOOK & BLUE JAYS RISING

This particular Wednesday was the type of day that daytime sports talk was made for! We analyzed all the breaking news on Episode #927 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV and YouTube. Read on for the rundown!

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays are on a roll, beating the Red Sox 9-3, 2) The Yankees down the Mets 4-2 and Fernando Tatis apologizes, 3) The Stampeders make it official – Bo Levi Mitchell is being sat in Week 12 at Winnipeg with Jake Maier getting the start, 4) In our daily preview of NHL teams, today we looked at the Winnipeg Jets (viewers forecasted no playoffs), 5) Nick Saban signs an 8-year extension with Alabama worth $93.6M, and 6) CFL Week 12 Deal Or No Deal for BetRegal – Would you take these bets? CGY at WPG (-5), HAM at TOR (-5), SASK at BC (-4) and OTT at EDM (-3.5)
  • Since we’re in the meat of the CFL season, we’ve decided to lean heavily into our Canadian football coverage and went deep on the future of Bo Levi Mitchell in Calgary. The hosts surmised it all may hinge on this week’s game, and if Bo’s CFL days are done, will he look to another CFL team or try his hometown of Houston in the XFL? We also looked at all other Week 12 CFL games.
  • TSN icon Rod Black joined the show to discuss all the hottest sports topics and promote his new podcast entitled THE RODCAST. This week’s RodCast guest is former Jays manager John Gibbons. Black also admitted that growing up in Winnipeg, the Jets have always been his #1 NHL team however he grew up cheering for the CFL’s Alouettes. As always, it was an entertaining chat with Mr. Black.

  • Moose returned in Hour 2 for a wide-ranging chat which included players moving on from teams and Rod detailed Henry Burris leaving the Roughriders in 2005 (again) and the reasons why. It was a very informative, behind-the-scenes discussion and Dupont said he could see why the Riders were miffed that Henry signed in the NFL in 2003. Rod questioned if Nathan Rourke should be discouraged from doing the same?
  • Toronto Star Blue Jays writer and Deep Left Field Podcast host Mike Wilner joined the show for a very expansive look at the surging Blue Jays. The longtime host of Jays Talk on Fan 590 Toronto said the Jays can’t keep up this pace for the rest of the year but feels they could lock down a Wild Card spot and eventually win the World Series. Mike figures the Jays’ pitching is carrying them now and will need to the rest of the way. He also reported George Springer is being used as the DH because of nagging injuries to which Rod quipped that Springer’s a pretty expensive Designated Hitter. “It’s not your money Rod,” Mike advised. Regarding the Jays being swept in the AL playoffs two years ago, Wilner feels they’re a much better team this time around and have a chance!
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Jim Lang. Wednesday’s was Rod Black!
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL? At press time, Calgary/Winnipeg was leading.
  • If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/11 pm MT on Game+ TV or on our YouTube channel. You can also enjoy the podcast wherever the best podcasts are found.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV and YouTube Live!
