WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: CFL, NFL, NHL & MORE!

In the thick of the busiest time of the sports calendar, we covered it ALL on Wednesday’s Episode #860 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV and WQEE Radio! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont opened with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) On NHL opening night the Rangers beat the Lightning 3-1 and the Golden Knights upset the Kings 4-3, 2) The fun continues on Wednesday with a 6-game slate including the Maple Leafs at the Canadiens (Moose picks the Leafs to win by 3 or more) and the Canucks at the Oilers, 3) A source tells the Associated Press that the NFL did NOT instruct the referees to call Roughing The Passer tighter in Week 5 (Rod said the source is lying), 4) The MLB Division Series opened with the Astros, Yankees, Padres and Phillies all winning Game 1’s, 5) Winnipeg will bid to host the 2024 Grey Cup and a preview of the CFL’s Week 18 games, and 6) WHL, OHL & QMJHL news & scores.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 18 of the CFL – Montreal at Ottawa, Hamilton at Calgary, Toronto at Edmonton or Winnipeg at BC? At press time the Ticats/Stamps were leading.
  • During the show news broke that Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams has been charged with misdemenour assault on a photographer in Kansas City on Monday Night Football. Rod applauded the news, while Moose said “Adams was upset!”
  • Canada’s foremost NFL expert Jim Lang dropped by the show for an extended segment and said his Raiders are the best 1-4 team in NFL history. He feels the team is still adjusting to new head coach Josh McDaniels. He agreed with Rod that there’s no way the NFL DIDN’T tell its refs to call R.T.P. tighter last week. Given the Dolphins’ inability to win without Tua Tagovailoa, Jim said it’s proof why quarterbacks are by far the highest-paid players in the NFL. He also answered several questions from viewers, including queries about the NY Jets and LA Chargers. Lang also discussed his beloved Maple Leafs and said he’ll be down on the team until they actually win a Stanley Cup.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Sarina Taylor. Wednesday’s was Jim Lang!
