WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: DUNK, LESLIE & MORE!

It was a hump day Episode #722 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV and some of our best sporting pals dropped by for a visit. Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tuesday NHL leftovers, 2) RP’s NHL Top 5 are Colorado, Florida, Carolina, NY Rangers and Tampa Bay, 3) The Bottom 5 are Ottawa, Philadelphia, Seattle, Arizona and Montreal, 4) The USFL unveils its 2022 rulebook and Rod favours the 3-down converts!, 5) The Blue Jays sign 11 players to new deals and beat the Yankees 9-2 in spring training, and 6) CFL transactions.
  • Sportsnet Flames host Ryan Leslie joined the show from Calgary to discuss the Flames’ 4-3 home loss to San Jose on Tuesday and fears the team could be forced to play meaningless games over the next month. He said fatigue shouldn’t be a factor for NHL players despite the fact Calgary recently went through a stretch of playing five games in seven days. Regarding Flames coach Darryl Sutter’s recent sound bytes going viral due to his truculence with the media, Ryan said Darryl knows exactly what he’s doing and said it’s a cute cat-and-mouse game.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who’s the Stanley Cup favourite in the NHL’s Western Conference: Calgary, Colorado, Los Angeles or Minnesota? At press time the whopping majority voted for Calgary.
  • In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer we were joined by 3DownNation CFL Insider Justin Dunk. He said Canadian QB Tre Ford is all the buzz in CFL circles at the moment. The CFL National Combine is set to go in Toronto later this month. Regarding the notion of the CFL going to 4 downs, Dunk said the idea is coming from somewhere and that Commissioner Randy Ambrosie is playing with fire by not flatly denying the story.
  • News broke during the show that the Kansas City Chiefs traded star WR Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks, and immediately signed him to a 4-year, $120M deal ($72M is guaranteed). Dunk stuck around the debate the move and Rod noted that the Dolphins had vowed to acquire more weapons for QB Tua Tagovailoa.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Rob Vanstone’s dog Candy. Wednesday’s was Justin Dunk.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Thursday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive!

Regarding your poll, I think Colorado was by far the winner.
