WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: FAJARDO, A HOCKEY DAY, NBA & MORE!

It’s tough to keep up in this fast-paced schedule of sports and we stayed on top of it all on Wednesday’s Episode #864 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) A busy NHL night with the Flames, Sens & Flyers winning and the Oilers & Canucks losing, 2) Cody Fajardo is limited in Rider practice for a “vet day”, 3) ALDS and NLCS talk, 4) The NBA season opened Tuesday night and the Raptors & Atlanta Hawks get going on Wednesday, 5) A preview of Week 20 in the CFL, and 6) Lots of NFL stuff including the owners meetings and Amazon Prime getting another game, on Black Friday beginning in 2023.
  • Lots of time was dedicated to the Fajardo situation, morphing into a discussion on the future of Bo Levi Mitchell. The moves out of Riderville this week appear to be head-scratching.
  • We were joined by 550 NHL game veteran and RDS analyst Andre Roy from Montreal. He’s thrilled over the start of the Canadiens however he predicts they’ll miss the playoffs. However he feels the Senators WILL reach the postseason. Roy talked about being teammates with Martin St. Louis in Tampa, and reflected on meeting Rod at a sports banquet in Carlyle, SK in 2019. The viewers loved “Roysie”!
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by TSN 1260 Edmonton Radio’s Jason Gregor who said the Oilers got “goalie-ed” by Buffalo in a 4-2 loss on Tuesday. (Sabres goalie Eric Comrie made 46 saves). Gregor compared Oilers & Flames fans and said it’s awesome that the Battle of Alberta means something again. Regarding the Edmonton Elks, Jason feels the franchise continues to be a disaster and said President Victor Cui will have plenty of work to do to win fans back this off-season
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL? – Ottawa at Hamilton, BC at Edmonton, Toronto at Montreal or Calgary at Saskatchewan? At press time the Stamps/Riders were leading.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Sheldon Napastuk. Wednesday’s was Andre Roy!
  • If you missed the show you can catch it on our YouTube channel or on your favourite podcast platform.
  • See you at 12 pm ET Thursday on YouTube Live and WQEE Radio!

The latest moves by the Riders apparently benching Fajardo is a head scratcher. Could this change @ halftime if FIne doesn’t pan out? Probably. But a lot of damage has been done where Farjardo, when interviewed, seemed to forecast him leaving Regina. The good news for the RIders is that, should the Lions beat the Elks (high probability) Stamps can’t finish 2nd & may end up sitting starters for parts of the final 2 games. I have said that Fajardo should get another year. WIth Collaros signing, who is out there better to replace him? Rourke has another year contract… Read more »
