WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: HALL OF FAMER PETER MAHER!

Wednesday’s Episode #702 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – was a big hockey show live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it rolling with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tuesday NHL games, 2) Rod’s Top 5 NHL teams are 1 – Colorado, 2 – Carolina, 3 – Florida, 4 – Calgary and 5 – Tampa Bay, 3) The USFL Draft is underway. Are you paying attention? 4) Dub Hub and the Hitmen host the Raiders in the Pink Game Wednesday night, 5) Phil Mickelson apologizes over disparaging remarks about Saudis, and 6) What else is hot?
  • The guys discussed the upcoming USFL season and how several CFL prospects went in the draft including former Riders QB Paxton Lynch. Rod was particularly interested in the fact the games will be shown on both Fox and NBC at the same time which hasn’t happened in American pro football since 1967.
  • Calgary Flames radio colour commentator Peter Loubardias joined the show from practice at the Saddledome to recap the team’s 10-game win streak, Thursday’s game at Vancouver, what the Flames need prior to the trade deadline and a WHL East Conference chat.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who should win the NHL’s Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year – Trevor Zegras, Tanner Jeannot, Lucas Raymond or Moritz Seider? At press time, Oxbow, SK’s Tanner Jeannot was leading.
  • It was a major treat in Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer as we were joined by Hall of Fame Flames broadcaster Peter Maher. Maher called every Flames game from 1980 to 2014 and he told story after story about the legendary Flames/Oilers battles, his Hall of Fame induction, his calling the 2010 Winter Olympics mens hockey games and much more!
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Mark Stephen. Wednesday’s was Peter Maher.
