Wednesday was a watershed day on Episode #698 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Canada’s mens hockey team is OUT at the Olympics after losing a quarterfinal to Sweden while Canada’s women go for gold against USA Wednesday night, 2) NHL’s Tuesday’s games including the Flames drubbing the Blue Jackets 6-2, 3) The CFL announced its list of important off-season dates, 4) Other Olympic stories? Kamila Valieva and Kaillie Humphries, 5) Gronk says Tom Brady won’t stay retired for long, and 6) Tuesday in the Dub.
  • New Edmonton Elks receiver Duron Carter joined the show from South Florida and said he was excited to come on since he always loves his appearances on the RP Show. Duron said he’s ecstatic to get back onto the field and was impressed Elks boss Chris Jones travelled to Florida to meet with him. Regarding reports Duron will be tried out at defensive back, he said he’ll contribute in any way possible. Duron was out of the CFL in 2021, opting instead to coach a high school team in North Palm Beach, FL. He said it was an eye-opening experience, managing player egos and “25 Duron Carters”! He feels it’s given him a new perspective and he’s eager to get in game shape and back on the field!
  • In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer we were joined by Calgary Stampeders GM John Hufnagel at Grey Eagle. Huff discussed current CFL business, went over his team’s free agent season, and said they underwent a mini-rebuild in 2021 which ended up in them making the playoffs. Regarding Bo Levi Mitchell, Huff explained that his QB is a special player and has all the qualities you’d want for your team leader. John also reflected on winning a Super Bowl with the 2003 New England Patriots and being Tom Brady’s position coach. Huff laughed, “I’m just glad I didn’t screw him up!” He went on to say Brady is the perfect combination of attitude, drive and God-given talent.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Are the Jay Woodcroft Oilers for real? At press time, results were around 50/50.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Lee Genier. Wednesday’s Rockstar was John Hufnagel.
