We covered a lot of ground on Wednesday’s Episode #1,066 of The RP Show – Daytime Sportstalk – live from Century Downs on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, YouTube Live and Podcast! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays win at Baltimore by a 6-3 score, 2) The Georgia Bulldogs are favourites to win their third straight CFP title, 3) Cody Fajardo and Zach Collaros return to the field to open Week 12 in the CFL, 4) Rod’s NHL Metropolitan Division standings prediction is – CAR – NJ – PIT – WSH – NYI – NYR – CBJ – PHI, 5) Baker Mayfield wins the QB1 job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and 6) Brooke Henderson tees it up at the LPGA Canadian Womens Open in Vancouver this week.
  • The daily Key Auto Group poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL – MTL/WPG, CGY/TOR, HAM/BC or OTT/EDM? At press time the Alouettes/Blue Bombers was leading by a mile.
  • In our weekly CFLPA Player Spotlight presented by Sober Carpenter Non-Alcoholic Craft Beer we were joined by Saskatchewan Roughriders kicker and player rep Brett Lauther. The Nova Scotia product discussed the team’s 5-5 record, his season so far, his close relationship with head coach Craig Dickenson, his off-season Rider charity hockey classic, and CFL Maritime expansion. Lauther feels that he was more confident about a 10th team prior to Covid but now he has no idea.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by veteran Canadian TV producer and hockey analyst John Shannon from Toronto. John talked about the changing sports media landscape in this country, his role in producing Canadian Football Network broadcasts in the 1980s, and much more.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day was chuckwagon driver Dustin Gorst. Wednesday’s was Brett Lauther!
