Wednesdays have always been a big hockey day and this one was no exception on Episode #915 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked off the show with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NHL leftovers – we’re at the midway point of the season!, 2) Rod’s NHL Top 5 are BOS – TOR – VGK – CAR – SEA and the Bottom 5 are MTL – ARZ – ANA – CHI – CBJ, 3) NFL Wild Card Weekend Deal or No Deal for Bet Regal, 4) Tuesday in the NBA, 5) Major Junior Trade Deadline Recap, and 6) A wrap of CFL Winter Meetings and expansion chat. What are we missing with Halifax?
  • Moose went on an impassioned rant about the NHL All Star Game in Sunrise, FL and said if 60-somethings like John Tortorella don’t like it, IT’S NOT FOR YOU!
  • Edmonton broadcaster Dean Millard joined the show to discuss the Oilers season and said fans are out of control with their team, however that’s the way it goes with each Canadian NHL club. Dean figures the Oilers have adequate goaltending but it’s not good enough to win a Stanley Cup. He also feels that when Evander Kane returns to the lineup, Edmonton should be primed for a good run.
  • Calgary Flames broadcaster Peter Loubardias joined the show in Hour 2 and feels the “loser points” the team has picked up so far on this 5-game road trip will go a long ways to making the playoffs. Lou pointed out that the team is almost exactly where they were a year ago, on the way to a magical regular season. However with the NHL Trade Deadline looming, Pete figures Calgary could be in the market for a Top 6 forward and a Top 4 defenceman. Regarding the WHL Trade Deadline, Pete figures conventional wisdom would suggest the Pats should’ve traded Connor Bedard however they never would’ve gotten an adequate return and it’s a complex situation overall.
  • It’s Round 2 of our NHL Reverse Retro Jersey Bracket and the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Whose Reverse Retro is better – Washington or NY Rangers? At press time, the Capitals had 59% of the vote.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day was Randy Ambrosie. Wednesday’s was Peter Loubardias!
  • If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+ TV, on our YouTube Channel or at your favourite podcast platform.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Thursday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio!
