IMG_5156

We were cookin’ with gas on Wednesday’s Episode #893 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV, WQEE Radio and YouTube Live! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NHL leftovers; Matthew Tkachuk was held pointless in his return to Calgary (a 6-2 Panthers loss), 2) Who won The Trade? Perhaps it’s too early to choose between the Flames and Panthers, 3) On Wednesday night the Raptors visit the Pelicans and the Hawks visit the Magic, 4) Tempe City Council passed the new arena vote 7-0, 5) Mike O’Shea re-signs with the Blue Bombers. Rod wonders why anyone would want to leave the Bombers?, and 6) Randoms including Dub Hub and Connor Bedard talk.
  • Rod’s Way Too Early 2023 CFL West Division standings prediction is: Winnipeg – Calgary – BC – Edmonton – Sask.
  • Washington Capitals TV analyst Alan May joined the show to discuss Alex Ovechkin’s chase of Wayne Gretzky’s career goals record. With two tallies Tuesday night in Vancouver, Ovie is 101 goals back and May figures it’ll be an amazing tour of NHL arenas once the Capitals star gets close to the record. May reflected on Ovechkin’s career and surmised that even though the Capitals and Panthers are out of a playoff spot at the moment, there’s plenty of hockey left. May also reflected on the wildly-popular Centennial Cup in Estevan last spring.
  • It was Day 2 of our NHL Reverse Retro Jersey bracket. (Florida smashed Tampa Bay on Day 1). In Wednesday’s Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre Poll we put the Coyotes jersey up against the Golden Knights. At press time, results were around 50-50.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by hockey analyst Sarina Taylor – Canada’s first-ever female major junior play-by-play broadcaster – and she discussed all things NHL and Connor Bedard. She feels the Flames won The Trade, and feels her Oilers are still Canada’s #1 NHL team however they need to improve their defensive play and goaltending. Regarding Bedard, Taylor said she was “underwhelmed” by his play at the World Juniors in August and feels he needs to take his game to the next level. She also answered plenty of questions from viewers.
  • Reigning CFL East Division Most Outstanding Player Geno Lewis joined the show to discuss his stellar season with Montreal. He’s been an Alouette since 2017 but is approaching free agency and isn’t sure where he’ll sign. CFL fan viewers implored Lewis to sign with their team! He also reflected on Grey Cup Week, attending the Twisted Tea Grey Cup Party, and analyzed what his Alouettes could’ve done to make it to the Grey Cup.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Matthew Barnaby. Wednesday’s was Sarina Taylor!
  • If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+ TV, on our YouTube Channel or wherever you enjoy your podcasts.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Thursday on Game+ TV, WQEE and YouTube Live!

I listen to Regina radio and the great Travis Tritt song, “Country ain’t country no more” There was a time we had Fred/Willie, Willie/Jamie, Courier, Pedersen, Nyhus……last standng is Gloria and Lovquist and when they pack it in that’s the ball game. I ran into Perry Nyhus on the street years ago and he was in Sales. I said, “when you left I realized that’s the last time I’ll ever hear a Merle Haggard song on day time radio.” – he talked to me for 30 minutes and had never met me before. There was a time when giants roamed… Read more »

I had to listen and she actually said this: “Taylor said she was “underwhelmed” by his play at the World Juniors in August” Has anyone tuned into the Hershel Walker senate campaign? Dave Chappelle said on SNL, “look I don’t want to pick on him as he’s black, but he’s observably stupid.” That comment about Conor Bedard….that’s when you realize these people who are getting platforms without paying the dues, riding the buses, working for peanuts and flat out not watching hockey maket themselves sound so limited it’s embarassing for them. Yet nobody can tell a female, ‘Okay bubble head… Read more »
