Laine now has 11 goals and 15 points. Meanwhile, Scheifele had a four-point outing with a pair of goals and two assists, propelling him to 18 points.

James Neal and P-K Subban each had a goal and an assist to lead the Predators over the Senators 3-1. Kyle Turris scored and Craig Anderson made 27 saves for Ottawa, which has lost consecutive games after winning three in a row.

Riding high after three wins in a row of their own, the Leafs got schooled by their more veteran opponent at Air Canada Centre. Jeff Carter scored twice and Peter Budaj made 19 saves as the Kings hammered the Leafs 7-0. Frederik Andersen was pulled for the first time this season after allowing four goals on 26 shots.

A big night for Canada’s Andrew Wiggins despite his team dropping a 119-110 decision to the Nets in Brooklyn. Wiggins had a career high 36 points for the Wolves and made a career-best six 3-pointers. Brook Lopez scored 26 for the Nets.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo and right fielder Jason Heyward from the World Series champion Cubs have won Gold Glove awards. San Francisco star Buster Posey was picked at catcher in the National League, ending Yadier Molina’s eight-year reign with St. Louis. Posey was joined by a pair of teammates, the double-play combination of shortstop Brandon Crawford and second baseman Joe Panik.

Defending champion Kevin Koe is off to a rough start at the Tour Challenge in Cranbrook, BC. The Calgary skip dropped an 8-4 decision to John Morris of Vernon, B-C in the opening draw of the second Grand Slam of Curling event.
