WEEK 1 TOP PERFORMERS
TORONTO (CP) – Quarterbacks Trevor Harris and Drew Willy and receiver Jeff Fuller are the CFL’s top performers for the opening week of the 2015 season.
Harris completed 24-of-27 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns in the Toronto Argonauts’ 26-11 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos in Fort McMurray, Alta. Harris made just his second career start with incumbent Ricky Ray on the six-game injured list as he recovers from off-season shoulder surgery.
Fuller captured the honour after registering nine catches for 148 yards in the Calgary Stampeders’ 24-23 home win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Willy was instrumental in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ 30-26 road win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He completed 22-of-25 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns in the contest.
Okay??? So what exactly is this "Top Performers about?
Is this a replacement for what has been the stars of the week, specifically on: offense, defense, special teams, and Canadian?
Maybe the CFL or someone could explain.
K
Come on K… listen to te cage!
It sounds like they pick 3 ppl regardless of position or passport each week. Then fans vote for them on twitter based on number of retweets.
I like it! Canadians (see: Ricky Foley) are frequently spouting off that nationality doesn't matter when it comes to the leagues best players. Jon Cornish is the #2 ranked player in the league according to TSN. So why do they need there own category. Conversely, if two kick returners have massive games why should one only be recognized while some defensive back gets it by default for a nothing interception and four tackles.
