PATS CLINCH PENNANT

REGINA (CP) –  It was likely a hollow feeling for the Regina Pats when they left the Brandt Centre Friday night.  The Pats earned a point from a 4-3 overtime loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings which was enough to earn them the East Division pennant for the first time since 2008.   Eric Roy scored the winner at 2:18 of the extra period as Brandon slipped past the Pats 4-3 before an announced crowd of 5652.  The Pats needed only a point Friday evening to finish in first-place.

Peter Quenneville had two goals and an assist in regulation for the Wheat Kings (33-29-9), who hold down the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, and Richard Nejezchleb added a goal and an assist.

Dmitry Sinitsyn, Dryden Hunt and Connor Gay supplied the scoring for Regina (39-25-7) who were outshot 35-32.  The Pats were 2/3 on the powerplay and 0/2 on the penalty kill.

Jordan Papirny made 29 saves for Brandon while Dawson MacAuley turned away 31-of-35 shots for the Pats to get the win.

The Pats will conclude the regular season Saturday night at Brandon in a 6:30 pm Sask time faceoff on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:05 pm) before opening the playoffs.

…after putting their whistles away for the third period Wieler decides he wants to be the star of the show, with a cheesy tripping call? And to think this guy was once rated as one of the better officials in the league..c'mom get real this guy is awful. That is at least when he calls games against the Pats…..

If Pats play Brandon in 1st round, they are out in 6. Take your chances with the Raiders.

If the Pats get their players back they will beat Brandon or P.A.
Don't forget last night the Pats were without two of their top 4 defence men, their starting goalie, and their leading scorer. They STILL should have won that game.

Don't these Brandon morons have a place to post? Evidently not. The Pats were the better team over the season and will be in the playoffs. Don't know how many games but the Pats will dispose of the Wheaties, and they know it.

The Pats are around .500 against the Wheat Kings for the year. I would rather not play them in the first round if they sweep us this weekend. It could mean an early end to a pretty good year…

Wheaties have our number and we'll bow out first round.

Wheaties are awesome. I would say they are the one team that can get out of this division into the league finals if things go well.
