The Regina Pats have now dropped back-to-back games on home ice.  In a Family Day matinee in the Brandt Centre on Monday, Tyler Coulter’s even strength goal with 32 seconds remaining in the second period was the winner as the Brandon Wheat Kings walked off with a 5-3 victory before 5611 fans.  It was a battle of the top two teams in the WHL’s East Division, however Brandon is the first club in the conference to clinch a playoff spot.

Pavel Padakin, Austin Wagner and Sam Steel scored Regina’s goals as the Pats outshot the Wheaties 30-27.  Brandon led from wire-to-wire, having a 2-0 advantage after the opening 20 minutes and 4-3 going to the third.  Former Pat Morgan Klimchuk iced the game with an empty net, shorthanded goal with 16 seconds to go in regulation time.

Daniel Wapple made 22 saves while taking the loss in the Regina goal.  The Pats were 1/3 on the powerplay and 2/2 killing penalties.

Regina (30-19-4-3) is next in action Friday when they host the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

Wapple needs a rest! The load is getting to him! Rest him and he will be razor sharp when needed to carry the load again! And he will be the difference maker in wins, when the real games come!

Maybe it is time to start challenging some players on this team.

"23 has lost all of his spark to play the game and as the captain the leadership is lacking.

There are also some players who should be accountable for there performance and not make plays that at this level of hockey should not be made.

Yes we are young team mistakes will be made but the coaching staff need to challenge them.

GO PATS GO!!!!!!!

The difference, right now, is the shortage of veteran scoring….#10 and #11. Will make a big difference when they're back.

Brandon is due to be good for the foreseeable future. Scary to think the Pats are hanging their hat on one Sam Steel and Brandon has Kale Clague that is at very least and two other young players that will be dynamite! Remeber they sent three players to U17 this season and all three were voted their respective team captains.

While the Pats may be on the right track, they will be further than two seasons away from realistically challenging for a league title. Would be nice to see more than one playoff round though!

that #23 was 1 of the best Pats on Monday although on Friday night he was 1 of the worst.

Seems like every loss this team takes the fans get more and more stupid with their comments.

If the idiot thinks in one game #23 is playing to his potential then he should try another sport as he is missing the picture.

Open your eyes and trap up as you have no idea what hockey is all about.

You probably got a cheap ticket from co-op gas bar now your an expert.

When is the last time that #23 dropped his gloves or actually hit somebody hard into the boards.Long time!!!!

He is getting soft ever since his line mates were traded.
