2024 Regina Pats Draft Selections

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats made nine selections in Thursdays 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, selecting five forwards, three defencemen and one goalie.

The Regina Pats began the day with a trade, acquiring the 38th overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick.

RD 2 | #25 | Aiden Wagner | Defenceman | Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep

Wagner, 15, tallied 23 points (4G-19A) in 22 games in 2023-24 with NAX, as well as six points (3G-3A) in five playoff games. The 5-foot-9, 151 lb. right-shot defenceman was a CSSHL U15 Champion and was named a CSSHL U15 Second-Team All-Star this past season. Hailing from Yorkton, Sask., Wagner played for the Yorkton Terriers U15 AA in 2022-23, compiling 17 points (6G-11A) in 29 games.

RD 2 | #38 | Sam Failler | Forward | Martensville Marauders U15 AA

Failler, 15, recorded 48 points (19G-29A) in 19 games in 2023-24, finishing fourth on his team in points, goals and assists. The Dundurn, Sask. product is a 5-foot-9, 139 lb. forward who played for the Marauders U15 AA team in 2022-23 as well, adding 42 points (16G-26A) in 29 games.

RD 3 | #48 | Mathis Paull | Forward | Rink H.A. Kelowna U15 Prep

Paull, 15, picked up 34 points (16G-18A) in 27 games in 2023-24, which was second on his club in points. The Vernon, B.C., product is a 6-1, 186 lb. left winger that played for the Okanagan Hockey Academy in 2022-23, recording 34 points (18G-16A) in 34 games.

RD 3 | #52 | Cohen Handby | Forward | Okanagan Hockey Academy U15 Prep

Handby, 14, compiled 32 points (9G-23A) in 27 games in 2023-24, ending the season first on his team in assists and third in points. The 6-foot-3, 172 lb. left-shot forward hails from Kelowna, B.C., and played for the Island Wild U14 team in 2022-23, totaling 31 points (17G-14A) in 31 games.

RD 4 | #82 | Drake Mooney | Goaltender | Red Deer Rebels U15 AAA

Mooney, 14, went 13-5-0 this past season with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. The Blackfalds, Alta. product is listed at 5-foot-11 and 139 lb.

RD 5 | #92 | Thayne Wasyluk | Forward | Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep

Wasyluk, 15, totaled 28 points (13G-15A) in 24 games in 2023-24 as well as 11 points (6G-5A) in five playoff games, helping his team to a CSSHL Championship. Playing for the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Vars in 2022-23, the Sherwood Park, Alta. product listed at 5-foot-11, 158 lb. right-forward recorded 29 points (14G-15A) in 26 games.

RD 6 | #114 | Hunter Wilm | Swift Current Broncos U15 AA

Wilm, 15, tallied 41 points (19G-22A) in 26 games in 2023-24 with the Broncos U15 AA team, finishing third on his club in points and goals. The Central Butte, Sask. product is 5-foot-8, 134 lb. and played for the Saskatchewan Jr. Pats in 2018-19 at the Brick Invitational.

Dunn, 15, recorded 30 points (13G-17A) in 26 games this past season at Delta, which led all defenceman on his club. Hailing from Richmond, B.C., Dunn is a left-shot defenceman listed at 6-foot-1, 187 lb.

Bissoon, 14, totaled 19 points (9G-10A) in 27 games in 2023-24. The Calgary, Alta. product is listed at 5-foot-9, 152 lb. and is a left-shot defenceman.
