It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday! Here we go …
#1 – It’s why I avoid travel, if I can. My worst travel nightmare happened coming home from Vancouver Monday night. After delay after delay, at 11:30 pm local time, with the plane loaded and ready to go, the pilot came across the speaker and said they were cancelling the flight. Sorry, but they’d be in touch. After sleeping on a bench in the Vancouver airport Monday night, we were able to get on a flight back home on Tuesday but were forced to scrap the RP Show for the day.
All in all, it could’ve been worse I guess.
#2 – The bad news continued when we learned the iconic Dolly Parton had passed away at the age of 80. I flipped over to CNN to witness wall-to-wall coverage of her passing, and they didn’t disappoint. But I didn’t really learn anything new. As a former country music deejay, I’d already did all the research on Dolly plus watched the tremendous Netflix doc on her life. The Queen of Country was truly one of a kind.
My favorite Dolly Parton song was “9 to 5”.
#3 – The Blue Jays blew one against the Kansas City Royals at Rogers Centre, falling 5-3. I saw somewhere the Jays need to have a winning percentage around .800 the rest of the way to make the playoffs and considering they’ve been half that all season, I’d say the fat lady is clearing her throat.
And #4 – Oh yes, the Riders! They hope to avoid a third straight loss Saturday when they host the Toronto Argonauts.
I hope the week gets better!

In 1982 the lineup was wrapped around the corner to see ET. My guardian at the time took me to an almost empty theatre to see The Best a little Whorehouse in Texas. That’s when I knew what a real man is in Burt Reynolds and what a real deal w.o.m.a.n was in Dolly Parton. The rest I figured out for there as she just got better and better over the years. The kids need to remember the music. She has one banger after another and people would be shocked to know the songs she wrote for others that became… Read more »
The Riders will find it difficult to beat Toronto. Trevor seems to have lost some of his skills and now that Sam is on the six game injured list, the odds are favouring the Argos.
#3 – Yeh, you can thank the half-billion dollar superstar for that one.
