A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend …

#1 – Welcome to one of the biggest football weekends of the year. Maybe … Top 5? Where I live in South Florida, they’ve been talking about this date since the College Football schedule came out. The #1 Miami Hurricanes at #5 Notre Dame Saturday night. Frankly I have no idea the implications other than it’s a battle of two teams who’ll be in the upcoming 12-team College Football Playoff. Miami can’t get any higher than they are. But I get the sense that if you don’t watch, you’re square.

#2 – Of course the CFL is #1 for me. And all week I’ve been thinking about Saturday’s division finals: Winnipeg at Montreal in the East and BC at Edmonton in the West. Now they’re saying the crowd at Commonwealth Stadium could nudge 40,000? The line is Elks by 1 1/2! Frankly who needs Miami-Notre Dame?! This is for a trip to the Grey Cup. I’ve picked Montreal and BC to win, and my pundits have too.

#3 – It sucks the Riders aren’t part of that but if you’re a true Saskatchewan football fan, you’ll be at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon on Saturday for the Canada West semifinal between the Regina Rams and Saskatchewan Huskies. Frankly, my timeline’s been full of chatter about that. It’ll be windy and plus-10 at kickoff. Can’t beat that!

Meanwhile while that’s going on, the turf at Mosaic Stadium is being switched out to accommodate the CFL’s new rules and field dimensions. Cue the fallout …

#4 – The highlight of my week was welcoming 18-year old Edmonton podcaster Ewan Manning to the RP Show. He dropped more Hot Takes than Rush Limbaugh – like saying Nathan Rourke can’t win outside a dome – and then spent the next 48 hours defending himself against butthurt BC media. I checked in with him Thursday to see how he’s doing with the fallout and he just laughed, saying “it’s all part of it”. Kids these days!

I asked him how he found our show and he replied “YouTube & social media”. It’s been that way with new viewers for about the past three years, especially with the young ones like Ewan.

Evolve or die.
