GETZLAF DRESSES UP AS SANTA CLAUS

Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Chris Getzlaf got into the Christmas spirit on Saturday, dressing up as Santa Claus for the Lucky Dog Paw Rescue effort.

The 11-year Canadian Football League veteran and future Hall of Famer dressed up as Santa at Regina’s Cathedral Pet Stop which was chosen as the host site for the charity event. Getzlaf spent the day posing for photos with peoples’ pets in exchange for a donation to the effort.

“It was fun,” Getzlaf – a dog lover – said via text message afterwards.

Whether Getzlaf is on Chris Jones’ Naughty or Nice List remains to be seen.

Getzlaf is one of 22 players on the Roughriders’ free agent list this off-season.

The 34-year old Reginan has won two Grey Cups in Saskatchewan – where he spent 2007-2016 – before spending almost two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos. After asking for his release from the Esks this fall, Getzlaf signed back with his hometown Roughriders in October.

He appeared in the 2017 CFL Eastern Semifinal at Ottawa, which the Roughriders won 31-20.
