ARGOS RELEASE THEIR BEST RECEIVERS

Milanovich
TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced today that the club has released international receivers: Kevin Elliott, Vidal Hazelton, Tori Gurley and Phil Bates.

“Obviously these decisions are very difficult to make, but I believe they are in the best interest of this football team,” said Head Coach Scott Milanovich. “We remain committed to winning this year and making a final push for the playoffs.”

The Argonauts also announced today that the club has signed international defensive end Eric Martin.  It was also learned that Drew Willy will be the Argos’ starting quarterback for the rest of the 2016 season.

Martin, a 6-2, 260-pound native of Los Angeles, California, arrives in Toronto after spending the previous three seasons in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns and most recently the New England Patriots. In 29 NFL games between the Browns and Patriots, he registered 14 tackles.

The 2012 first-team All-BIG Ten selection capped off his NCAA career at Nebraska with 123 tackles (61 solo, 62 assisted), 22 tackles for a loss of 90 yards, 11 sacks, one fumble recovery, two blocked kicks and a pass breakup with the Huskers.
