RED SOX SWEPT OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS
The Regina Red Sox season came to a close Wednesday night as they dropped a 6-1 decision to the Yorkton Cardinals.
374 fans braved the cool Regina night to take in Game 3 of the Red Sox – Cardinal playoff series at Currie Field.
The Red Sox turned to right-handed starter Adam Prashad, the junior from Madonna University to stop their two-game playoff losing skid. Prashad went five innings giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks. Ben Schweinfurth took over in the sixth and pitched a pair of innings allowing one run. Skyler Henson tossed a scoreless eighth inning before turning the ball to Red Sox all-star closer Sam Brunner in the ninth.
Yorkton countered with Illinois product Max Biedrzycki. He pitched eight solid innings facing 33 Red Sox batters on the night. Centerville product Richard England finished the game for the Cards.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Red Sox opened the scoring with a Jon Nunnally sacrifice fly that scored Korbin Polston. The Cards battled back in the top of the third scoring three runs to take the lead.
Yorkton then added a pair of runs in the fifth inning and another in the seventh to increase their commanding lead to 6-1.
The Cardinals swept Regina in the best of five playoff series and now move on to face the Swift Current Indians for the Eastern Division pennant.

Followed the team all year and fell this agin was another mediocre season. Once again pitching wasn't up the standard that better teams have. Maybe the organization had better look at who's constructing this team, and look at securing better talent particularly better arms.
