RED SOX, MILLIONAIRES SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER IN MELVILLE

GAME 1
Melville 4 Regina 3

Melville outfielder Jacob Chiaravalle hit his fifth home run the season, which proved to be the winning run for the Millionaires.  The 4-3 victory was just the 10th of the season for the Millionaires. The loss dropped the third place Red Sox to 25-19.

Regina scored three runs on just four hits. Infielder Derek Slate had a patient night at the plate collecting three walks.

Millionaire reliever Shane Fodness improved his record to 1-1, allowing one run over two innings.

Starter Ben Schweinfurth went the distance for the Red Sox giving up four runs on nine hits. He also walked two, struck out four in his third loss of the season.

GAME 2
Regina 9 Melville 0

The Regina Red Sox scored five runs in the first inning on the way to a 9-0 win over Melville in the second game of the double header.

Jake Howard led the Regina offence with his eighth homer of the season. Howard finished the night with two RBIs on three hits.

Red Sox starter Seth Sorensen held the Melville Millionaires at bay for four plus innings giving up only two hits while fanning four Moneymen batters. Sorensen shared the shutout with relievers Chase Nistor and Caleb Dunn.

Tyce O’Neill took the loss for the Millionaires.

Next action for the 26-19 Regina Red Sox is Thursday night when they travel to Yorkton to battle the Cardinals. This key game could ultimately determine second place in the Eastern Division and home field advantage in the first round of the WMBL Playoffs.

The Red Sox end the regular season at home on Friday night against the first place Swift Current Indians. Game time at Currie Field is 8:00 pm.
