WOODCOCK JOINS REDBLACKS STAFF

OTTAWA-GATINEAU – The Ottawa REDBLACKS announced Monday that Pat Woodcock has joined the staff as the club’s Strength Coordinator.

Woodcock, a CSCS and PICP-certified strength coach, brings a wealth of experience to the REDBLACKS having previously worked with high performance athletes from the NFL, CFL, NASL and NLL as well as Team Canada baseball, football and lacrosse.

The Ottawa native’s football playing career spanned nearly a decade and included time spent with the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, Montreal Alouettes, Ottawa Renegades, Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He is currently the co-owner of Elite Performance Academy in Kanata.

Woodcock also holds the Grey Cup record for longest touchdown reception after he connected with Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo for a 99-yard touchdown in the 2002 championship game.

“Pat is an experienced local guy who has played the game at the highest level and has worked with high-level athletes across many different sports,” said REDBLACKS GM Marcel Desjardins. “We’re excited to have someone with his level of expertise working with our players moving forward.”

The REDBLACKS are currently in the midst of mini camp, which runs until Tuesday.
