CHICK TO THE TICATS
TSN’s Gary Lawless is reporting free agent defensive lineman John Chick is poised to sign with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Lawless reported from his Twitter account @garylawless that the deal is “all but done”.
The 33-year old Chick is even Tweeting members of the Ticats saying that he’s “blessed” to be joining the squad.
CFL sources are telling me Chick signed with Hamilton on Sunday.
The Gilette, WY product was released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders on January 14/2016.

It'll be interesting to see what kinda salary he's getting. Either way… he's a great player whose still got some gas left in the tank. Hamilton is lucky to have him.

It would be interesting to know what the number he signed for actually is. I'm sure that won't be released. His best years are behind him and he clearly didn't care enough about the team to settle for what he will be making there. If he had half the class DD has, he would have been more receptive. Does anyone one else realize that Saskatchewan does not have any sports journalists that actually break news before it happens. These local sports people don't have the connections to break the news. We are always hearing from the sports guys in bigger centers. And yet they are right here and are supposedly covering our team. I guess they can not crack a big market and are lucky to work here. May sound like a negative nellie, but they sound bush-league when I hear them ask questions of Chris Jones and other previous coaches. SOme of their questions are ridiculous.

According to Vanstone, Chick was due to get $140,000 bonus plus $120,000 for a total cap hit of $260,000. I liked him, but not that much.
Honestly, it's probably just Rod himself writing those "fire Jones" posts just to get the crowd fired up. Or maybe he does it to remain in good standing with the old boys club. They definitely do not want to see Jones succeed, they want their guy in (JO) as soon as possible. But that won't happen cause we have a president now (Reynolds) who cares more about winning than his death grip on all facets of the team like his predecessor.
