MACS: VANCOUVER 4 REGINA 2

CALGARY — The Regina Pat Canadians came up short in the Macs Midget Hockey Tournament on Thursday with a 4-2 playoff loss to the Vancouver Giants.

Ty Barnstable was Regina’s game star with a pair of goals while Dean McNabb took the loss in goal making 18 saves.

Regina forward Riley Woods was named the Tournament MVP, Most Sportsmanlike Player and First Team All-Star.  He’s been asked to stay in Calgary for the presentation at Friday’s final game.

Joining Woods on the First Team is Turner Ripplinger while teammates Ty Barnstable and Jake Heerspink were named to the Second Team.  Ripplinger led all scorers in the tournament with 14 points in four games.

The Pat Canadians would like to thank everyone for their support during the Macs Tournament.

Shades of the last Telus Cup. There seems to be a pattern. It would appear this team has to deal with some internal or leadership issues. You don't go 4-0 domination and then lay an egg. It's nice for Woods to be recognized in this way but this team should have been playing for a championship. Some teams can't rise when the chops are down.

Anon 1, shades of the last time you posted. There seems to be a pattern, you only post when you can pounce on the wounded and point out the negative. Some anons can't post when the positives are out.

Typical Regina loss, no finish.

Talking to someone tonight who attended the tournament and apparently the Pat Canadians lost a player to injury in each game, including the Tournament Leading Scorer (Ripplinger) shortly into the Final. Not a bad result for that adversity for these young players.

Man. I can't believe how many people are jealous of the sports scene in Regina. Crazy.

Go Pats. Go Pat C's. Go Riders. Go Thunder. Go Rams.

Maybe they are just jealous of the coverage you give them Rod, I don't think they have that in any other city across the prairies.
