REGINA — The Regina Pats suffered their first home defeat of the season, surrending four powerplay goals in a 6-0 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings Saturday night.

It was the Jayce Hawryluk show for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the first period.  The Florida Panthers prospect tallied a natural hat-trick.  All three goals came from right in the blue paint with two of the markers on the powerplay.  The Pats found themselves trailing 3-0 through twenty minutes.

The Wheat Kings powerplay continued to dominate with a pair of early goals from John Quenneville and Hawryluk’s fourth of the night.  Daniel Wapple tried to hold the line for the Pats, coming up with a pair of great saves following the goals.  The Wheat Kings broke through again late in the frame as Reid Duke went end-to-end, finishing on a toe-drag and wrist shot for a 6-0 lead after two periods.

The third period saw the physical play pick up, but nobody could find the back of the net.  Tyler Brown stopped 12 while Jordan Papirny turned aside eight to seal the shutout and a 6-0 Wheat Kings victory.
