MACHO GETS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TORONTO – Macho Harris, Marquay McDaniel, and Derel Walker were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 14 of the CFL’s 2015 season.

Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Macho Harris had a career game where he recorded a trio of interceptions and returned one of them for a touchdown in the Riders’ 33-21 victory over the Montreal Alouettes.

On the first volley of the game, Montreal strung together a few first downs until Harris caught a deflected pass and returned it 26 yards into Alouettes territory. On the very next play, Kevin Glenn found Rob Bagg for the 38-yard score that help stir the home crowd in Regina.

Before the end of the opening half, Harris jumped a route on Nik Lewis to intercept the pass and ran it back to the Alouettes’ 10-yard line, leading to a field goal to give the Riders a 15-1 lead.

The Highland Springs, Virginia native notched his third interception in the game after picking off a Rakeem Cato pass and returning it 50 yards into the end zone, giving the Riders a 21-2 advantage.

Harris accumulated 91 return yards on his three interceptions versus Montreal.

The former Virginia Tech Hokie holds the record at the school for most touchdowns on interception returns with four.

This season, Harris leads the Roughriders in interceptions (3), sits third in tackles (42) and third in sacks (3).
