Sean Monahan tied it with just over six minutes left in regulation for the Flames. Calgary moved past Los Angeles into the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with the victory.

Nazem Kadri was the lone scorer for Toronto as the Maple Leafs struggled in a 4-1 loss to Carolina. Toronto has dropped five straight. Also, Radim Vrbata and Bo Horvat both scored in the first period as the Vancouver Canucks fended off the Florida Panthers for a 2-1 victory.

The Toronto Raptors’ balanced attack was clicking in Milwaukee. Kyle Lowry scored 18 points and was one of six Toronto players in double figures in the Raptors’ 92-89 victory over the Bucks. Terrence Ross added 16 points as the Atlantic Division leaders won for the third time in 10 games.

Damian Lillard scored 22 points, including the go-ahead basket with 1:20 remaining, and the Portland Trail Blazers ended a three-game losing streak with a 98-94 win over the Sacramento Kings. Lillard had six points during the final 80 seconds and helped rally the Trail Blazers from an 11-point, second-half deficit.

Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas scored 24 points apiece and the Phoenix Suns to top the Los Angeles Lakers 115-100. The Suns won their sixth in a row at home, their longest such streak in four years, and 13th in their last 17 overall.

Canada’s Milos Raonic defeated Ukrainian qualifier Illya Marchenko 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3), 6-3 to advance to the second round of the Australian Open. The eighth-seeded Raonic was a semifinalist at Wimbledon last year, but has never been beyond the fourth round of the Australian Open.
