Martin Jones made 19 saves in his seventh career shutout, and Anze Kopitar scored in the opening minute of the Los Angeles Kings’ 2-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jonathan Bernier stopped 18 shots by his former Los Angeles teammates in the Maple Leafs’ third game under interim coach Peter Horachek.

Earlier, Jakub Voracek was one of five Flyers to score in the second period, leading Philadelphia to a 7-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Voracek boosted his NHL-best point total to 52. And Alex Ovechkin scored a tie-breaking power-play goal late in the second period to help the Washington Capitals beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-1.

Jincy Dunne scored twice — including the overtime winner — as the United States edged Canada 3-2 to win the women’s under-18 hockey championship. Dunne’s second goal came just 11 seconds into the extra period, to end Canada’s run of three-straight world titles at the event.

Although the Toronto Raptors had a balanced attack they still came up short against the Detroit Pistons. Jonas Valanciunas scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Toronto dropped a 114-111 decision to Detroit. Seven Raptors players had double digits in points.

A five-player trade between the Grizzlies, Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans that includes forward Jeff Green going from Boston to Memphis has been approved by the NBA. In the trade, the Grizzlies send forward Tayshaun Prince to Boston and forward Quincy Pondexter to New Orleans. The Grizzlies also acquired point guard Russ Smith, a 2014 second-round pick, from New Orleans, and a traded player exception. The Pelicans send Austin Rivers, the 10th overall pick in 2012, to Boston in the deal.
