GOLD’S GYM MONDAY EYE-OPENER

Andrew Luck spoiled another Tom Brady versus Peyton Manning showdown. Luck threw for 265 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the AFC divisional playoff to lead the Colts over Manning and the Broncos 24-13. The win sends Indianapolis to its first conference championship game since Manning led them past the New York Jets in January 2010. They’ll play the Patriots in New England next week.

In the NFC playoff game, Green Bay rallied from an 8-point deficit to edge the Dallas Cowboys 26-21. Aaron Rodgers threw for two second-half touchdowns and the Packers were helped out by a video reversal with under five minutes to play. Dez Bryant’s leaping catch at the Packers 1-yard line on fourth-and-2 was reversed by the referee after Green Bay challenged. The Packers will play the Seahawks in Seattle next weekend.

Quite the night for rookie Rickard Rakell. The 21-year-old forward scored once in the shootout and had two goals and two assists in regulation as Anaheim came from behind to defeat Winnipeg 5-4. The Jets led late in the third before Rakell forced extra time with his second goal of the night.

The Florida Panthers have hit a hot streak. Florida won for the fourth time in its past five games, topping the Oilers 4-2 in Edmonton. Tomas Kopecky, Jimmy Hayes, Brian Campbell and Sean Bergenheim scored while Jussi Jokinen recorded a pair of assists. The Oilers have just four wins in their last 28 games.

Damian Lillard scored 17 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter, leading the Portland Trail Blazers to a 106-94 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Four other players scored in double figures for the Blazers, who have won 27 of their last 32 games and are a season-best 22 over .500 at 30-8.

It’s a two-way tie between Jimmy Walker and Hideki Matsuyama for the lead going into the final round of the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. Patrick Reed and Sang Moon-Bae are two shots back. Canadian Nick Taylor currently sits in a tie for 27th place.
