This is what happens when you let Academics part of the process. The wrong hire this should have been a job for Scott MacCauley as he is ready for it. This hire was done primarly to let the Rams Board and Dairy Queen moguls know the U of R runs the show and not them. Gibson will be here 1 season, 2 max until the CFL calls again. The model for the Rams is not broken, the problem was recruiting. Knock off recruiting High School players and start focusing on bringing in the eligible Junior Football players who can start… Read more »

Why? According to the Rams they are elite and beyond reproach. This folds them into line just like everybody else. Long ago a change needed to be made and should have been made, but emotion gets in the way of decision making.

I would not be surprised if eventually the Rams are folded into the U of R as another Cougars team, and the Rams as an entity disbanded.

Is the Midnight Rider the new know-it-all, replacing Obama as the voice of arrogance and silliness?

Great choice. Welcome Coach Gibson. He has a great reputation and track record, nice to see a coach of this calibre attracted to the U of R. Looking forward to seeing him take this program to a new level.

If the Rams do get disbanded and the team becomes the Cougars then the 50-50 at Rider games should go to all amateur football in Saskatchewan since the school with the Cougar name will be completely funded by the school….what students complaining about more hikes? Don't like that idea do yah Reimer.

Hey anon, you do know that being funded "by the school" means funded by the taxpayers? U of R is a public university. I'd personally prefer the draws run by volunteers fund the football team, than every taxpayer in Saskatchewan.

I know why I never read comments. It gives a podium to idiots that only provide criticism and cynicism. Coach Gibson is a great hire that will help build on the tremendous foundation laid by Frank, the other coaches and the alumni.

Obama is too afraid to sign his name, as he is hiding his head in shame over his Wally Buno head coaching call.

The question is why now…he's been wrong so many times!!

Ummmm … The 50/50 does fund all amateur football in sask. It is divided by the Rams, Huskies, thunder, hilltops, and football sask.

I realize that junior hockey is now a pro (albeit unpaid kids) worldwide recruited sport and university sport is headed that way. But some of us still like to see our kids get to play past age 15/18. But I guess these things have passed me by.. (Yes I heard … Winning is the ONLY thing)
