Brett Lernout’s even strength goal at 10:06 of the third period was the winner as the Swift Current Broncos topped the Pats 2-1 Saturday night in the Brandt Centre.  In the process, the Broncos swept the weekend home-and-home series.

The Broncos led 1-0 after the first period but Regina’s Sergey Zoborovsky tied the game at 1-1 heading into the third.  That set the stage for Lernout’s game winner.

It was another game where the Pats outshot the opposition, only to lose.  Regina outshot Swift Current 40-27 while going 0/4 on the powerplay and 6/7 killing penalties.

Daniel Wapple made 25 saves to take the loss in the Pats’ goal while Landon Bow made 39 saves for the Broncos to collect the victory.

The attendance was 4235.

The Pats (5-8-1) will try to snap a four game losing streak Sunday when they host Lethbridge at 6 pm on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 5:35 pm).

40 or 50 shots on goal doesn't matter when 85-90% of them come from the outside. They're just padding the other goalies stats. On the last PP they killed it themselves playing around the perimeter. Really no finishers, no toughness, too small, and some vets who are simply coasting. I guess this is managements new way. Personally Ii's not too impressive and I don't like it much.

Personally i have not missed a game yet and i think the hockey has been very good. Faced another tough goalie again and he beat us.

Does anyone know why the temporary screens at centre ice are now moved towards the east end of the rink? Seems a bit awkward from the west side

They were moved to accomodate the PressBox. Apparently the webcasts didn't have a good view of the benches.
