CALGARY, Alta. – The No. 2-ranked Calgary Dinos opened up a 28-point lead at halftime and never looked back, rolling to a 59-7 win over the Regina Rams on Saturday afternoon at McMahon Stadium.

The Dinos scored five of their seven touchdowns on the ground, with quarterback Andrew Buckley scrambling for two of them. Quentin Chown, Jansher Hundal, and Austen Hartley all had a touchdown rush each, while four Dinos ended up with over 60 rushing yards – Chown with a game-high 95, Mercer Timmis with 77 on just four rushes, Hundal with 69, and Buckley with 66.

Brett Blaszko was the recipient of both touchdown passes from Buckley, who finished the game 18-for-26 for 216 yards as the Dinos improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Rams’ lone points of the game came on a three-yard pass to Jared Janotta from Noah Picton to cap a three-play, 75-yard drive which was set up by a 71-yard toss down the left sideline to Addison Richards. Picton was 19-for-37 for 277 yards, while Richards (109 yards) and Janotta (83 yards) both tied for the team high with five receptions. The Janotta major brought the Rams to within 11 midway through the second quarter, but that would turn out to be their only points of the game.

The Rams (1-4) will now have a bye week before their Week 6 game at UBC on Saturday, Oct. 18. Following that, the U of R will finish off its Canada West schedule with home games against Manitoba and Alberta.

As per University of Regina Policy, the Head Coach job will be advertised Nationally. Contrary to what some believe, this job will not be handed to anyone without a proper search and due diligence is complete. Those days are gone…..
