Colton McCarthy’s powerplay goal at 12:50 of the second period was the game-winner as the Prince Albert Raiders skated off with a 4-1 home victory over the Regina Pats Friday evening in WHL preseason play.

In the Pats’ exhibition finale, the Raiders led 1-0 after the first period and 3-1 after 40 minutes.  Maximilian Kammerer scored Regina’s lone goal, at 10:04 of the second period while at even strength.  Brendan Guhle scored a pair for the Raiders, their third and fourth goals of the game.

Daniel Wapple started in goal for Regina and went the distance, stopping 28 of 32 shots.  Nick McBride played all 60 minutes for the Raiders, stopping 21 of 22 pucks.

P.A. outshot Regina 32-22 as the Pats went 0/4 on the powerplay and 3/4 killing penalties.

Regina finished the preseason at 4-2-0-1 and now get set to open the 2014-15 WHL season Friday night at Brandon on 620 CKRM.
