GUARANTEED WIN FOR LIONS OVER RIDERS?

BC Lions President Dennis Skulsky proclaimed Sunday’s home game against Saskatchewan as “Guaranteed Win Night” on Team 1040 Radio in Vancouver on Thursday. If the Lions fail to deliver on the guarantee, fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to a future home game.

Here’s a news release from the Lions to promote the game:‎

– Sunday marks the final afternoon home tilt of the 2014 regular season for the Leos and with sunny skies and warm temperatures in the forecast, not to mention the biggest crowd of the year expected for a huge West Division showdown, BC Place is the place to be this weekend.

The club’s popular Nissan Street Party will also take advantage of the beautiful weekend weather on-deck with the Plaza Patio which offers a selection of food and alcohol beverages from Centerplate beginning at 2:00 pm. The Lions will don their tremendously popular gunmetal-gray and black third jerseys on Sunday and the club is very pleased to welcome the family of the late Terry Fox as honourary captains. Halftime features another fan-favourite as mascots from across the Lower Mainland gather to play a friendly game of soccer.

Game Overview
Winners of their last three consecutive games and four of the past five, the Lions (5-3) welcome the surging Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-2) to BC Place this Sunday at 4:00 pm presented by Save-On-Foods. It’s a critical game for the Leos as they continue to chase down their West Division rivals heading into the mid-season turn. Earlier in the year, the Lions marched into Regina and came away with a 26-13 win and can take the season series over the ‘Riders with a win on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Mike Benevides has the luxury of being able to wait until later in the week to name his starting quarterback as Kevin Glenn and Travis Lulay share duties under centre during practice this week.

Behind the club’s starting pivot the Lions have another decision to make as running back Andrew Harris looks set to return after sitting out last game with an ankle injury but he may still get another game to heal with Stefan Logan coming off an award-winning performance in Toronto on Sunday.

Of vital importance for the Lions’ offence will be keeping track of ‘Riders defensive end John Chick who’s been a terror for opposing offensive lines. With 12 sacks on the season, Chick will be a handful in the trenches.

The always dangerous Darian Durant will also draw special attention as the Lions look to keep one of CFL’s best quarterbacks under wraps Sunday.

On defence, Solomon Elimimian continues his torrid pace with 63 tackles on the season, 27 more than his nearest competition. The hard-hitting linebacker isn’t the only one making an impact in the first half of the season as rookie defensive lineman Alex Bazzie looks to add to his team-leading total of seven sacks while defensive back Ronnie Yell appears to be the Lions’ next dominant defensive back with two interception returns for touchdowns in the past three weeks.

The Lions will need a gritty 60-minute effort against the current Grey Cup champs and Sunday’s tilt will likely add yet another chapter to one of the CFL’s biggest rivalries.

There’s no better way to enjoy summer than Lions football and two of the best ways to take in the action are the Global BC Family Zone ($30 including free hotdog and small pop) and the Gemstone

Gridiron Deck ($30). Both sections are on sale now – visit ticketmaster.ca or call 604.589.ROAR for more information.

This will make it that much sweeter when the Riders tear the Lions apart on the so called "guaranteed win night."
Doesn't matter who is behind center for BC, Chick will be terrorizing them all game.
Go Riders Go!

Teams do what they need to do to get their players and fans psyched up. The best team that day will still win. If the riders want to even have a sniff this game their offence is going to need it's best game yet. Defense will also have their challenges but offense will have to match and be better than BC offense. If Darian runs the ball a bit we have a chance, if he expects to have lots of time he's in trouble already. They can beat BC but they had better bring their best effort.

Just another example of how important the Riders are to the CFL!! Guarantee a win, and help fill that half empty stadium for the Lions last 4 home games!!!!! (And that's if they win!!!)

Also, the largest crowd of the year is expected in BC and the Riders will lead the league in average away attendance for the gazillionth year in a row!!!! Now we just need to ruin the plan!!!!!!! Go Riders!!!

Actually, the Lions should pay a ticket royalty to the Riders AND pay for their billboard ad. The only game that sells out for BC is when the Riders come to town. Unfortunately for the Lions, it's only once a year. Otherwise the upper deck is tarped to make it "look full" in there.

They are crying about the ad here in Vancouver.

War is Hell ! I guess the Lions are in for a Hell of a surprise. I'll say Riders 31-17 in this one.

The Rider defense better be as good as it's been, special teams needs to step up and George Cortez has to turn to page 2 of his playbook, because 5 consecutive two and outs won't work against a Western opponent. If all three of these things don't happen the Lions will have their guaranteed win

Any time a team makes this guarantee they always win…I can only imagine the financial loss if everyone gets a free ticket to another game should they lose…
BC will win on sunday…its almost like a fix…

Is it smart to send Lulay out against The beast Chick.

After the Riders win, I will burn my "free" ticket. BC Place is a drunk fest with douches fighting inside and out on the streets. Stanley Cup riots is what Van City fans do.

If Lulay plays Then he needs to be able to take a hit, not a cheap shot but a good hit. Hopefully the refs remember that.
