PALARDY TO JOIN RIDERS

Saskatchewan Roughriders GM Brendan Taman alluded to the fact on Monday’s SportsCage that the team is looking at bringing in a kicker with CFL experience to back-up veteran Chris Milo.

Monday evening we learned that kicker is Justin Palardy. The 26-year old from St. Mary’s University has spent most of his CFL career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers however he began this season with the Ottawa RedBlacks before being released.

Chris Milo is 5/8 over the past two games including going 2/3 in Saturday’s win over Montreal. The four year veteran from Laval was battling illness most of last week and Taman told 620 CKRM it was a red flag since they didn’t have a back-up kicker.

Palardy’s expected to be on the field for Wednesday’s Day 1 open practice at Mosaic Stadium.

Saskatchewan (5-2) visits B.C. (5-3) Sunday at 5:00 pm on TSN and the CKRM Rider Radio Network.

I just listened to the Monday SportsCage debate about Higgins not going for 2 points… here are the facts: 1) When you are in the latter half of the fourth quarter, time is running out, recognize that and go for 2 points; 2) You go for the two points primarily due that it will tie up the game. Let's fact it, when given an opportunity to either 'go ahead' in the game or at least 'tie the game', you go for it, especially when it is late in the fourth quarter. 3) If you go for the 2 points and… Read more »

My second comment after listening to Monday's Sports Cage is for Rider Fans to relax and not worry about the George Cortez offense. For the first time in about 5 years, Darian Durant has the same Offensive Coordinator, a very strong advantage for Durant and I am sure he appreciates not having to learn a new system. Let's understand something here, Cortez is a CFL and football genius. Also lets understand that Darian Durant is likely very comfortable in the same system. Each week they are trying new things and, really, only toying with the opposition. Come playoff time the… Read more »

Kel… I don't think anyone is doubting George's offence. However this year he is also the QB Coach. That In itself seems to be the catalyst for DD change in play.
With Cirtez having to take extra time as a QB coach makes one wonder if that's why it's taking the new receivers much longer to become acclimatized

Well Obama… Yesterday you told me that both my comments were incorrect. You also went on to call me a lower form of life. Yet today KAPOW there is another kicker coming to camp. To back up and to push MiloSo I say to you, who was wrong? … Well that would be you! That makes who the lower form of life that in your words needs to suck back 9 or 10 beer wile watching the game. That would also be you. Maybe now you will realize that you are no where near the person of football you think… Read more »

I have gotten the feeling that our offence is only playing enough to win games. Why are they doing this? When Weston is back with us in early September, wait for the "shock and awe" moments. I really don't care what they pay Weston, and fully expect some receivers to be let go so that we can give him a good salary.

The second half of the season last year we saw plays work so much better, we saw new plays and we saw a level that was missing in the first half. We would get little hints of things to come but it looked so easy as the season progressed. I believe after Labor Day we are fine tuned and ready to challenge. Not saying will win it all, that depends on many unknowns but we'll be in the mix for sure.

I don't believe for a minute that our offense is saving itself for thr playoffs. That is a farce. First you have to make the playoffs. Maybe they are just saving themselves until we host the grey cup again.

To the guy Obama labelled a low life. If you have to tell Obama how right you are. You probably are not.

Last year when the O was having problems Doubles said him and Cortez sat down and talked about it. Cortez said that he was on teams that were 15-3 in the regular season that had amazing offences (Flutie in Calgary). However, by the time the playoffs came everyone had figured out their offence and were able to beat them. They had shown their cards too early. I think it's the same thing here. We've only seen a sneak peek of what the O can do and they've got way more tricks up their sleeves. Look what happened last year in… Read more »

We've seen a sneak peak and they won 5 games. They did bring in a backup Kicker who 7 games into the season nobody in the CFL felt he warranted being placed on a roster.

To the fellow who is backing Obama.
Maybe read the comments after the Saturday game. (probably is Obama backing Obama)
Obama was name calling after a remark was made that Milo needs to be challenged. That his play will lose games against the better Western opponents.
Look's like Taman agrees!
Obama is a name calling aggressive ass and deserves everything he gets thrown back at him. It is good to see him shown how wrong he was in such a short time

Obama was the guy saying all along Canadians play off the roster as opposed to playing on the roster. Obama concurred with Mullinder that Milo as a Canadian needed someone challenging him. What I'm reading is Tama agrees and has brought in competition. I wouldn't say Obama name calls, but he is notorious for labelling people. He won't tell a person he is stupid instead he'll label them as Low Functioning whatever that is. He twists, turns, and spins the discussion where they argue with him then agree with his statements. I rolled my eyes when some wrote slamming Obama… Read more »

Obama, ('cause we all know this is you), would you enlighten us by defining both 'labelling' and 'name calling' and please highlight the differences between the two.

Obama is not an aggressive name calling ass. He is the definition of passive aggressive. That is way worse. Instead of using a chainsaw Obama would just be a termite infestation he'll chew through the inside out. I will be the first one to wonder why in the world Rod Pedersen allows Obama the stage. Obama must have photos of him or something.
