ARGOS HOST ROUGHRIDERS IN HOME-OPENER SATURDAY

Toronto – This Saturday, July 5 at 3:00 p.m. ET the Toronto Argonauts will host the defending champion Saskatchewan Roughriders in their 2014 Home Opener,presented by Tim Hortons,at Rogers Centre.

Reigning East Division Most Outstanding Player Ricky Ray, who passed for nearly 300 yards in the season opener last week, leads the offence into Rogers Centre in a game that will see the last two Grey Cup champions go head to head. His supporting cast of all-stars will once again include SB/KR Chad Owens, who scored his first punt return touchdown of the year last week, as well as the always electrifying SB/RB Andre Durie. Fans also won’t want to miss the regular season home debut of LB Shea Emry and the rest of the re-engineered Argos defence.

The excitement of the Home Opener begins early with the Go RVing Canada Tailgate Party at 1:00 p.m. outside Gate 11. Featured this year will be the TSN Radio 1050 Chad Owens Toss where fans can test their skills and, at each Tailgate this season, enter to win a trip for two to see the Double Blue play in Montreal. There will be plenty of other exciting activities, games and music, as well as appearances by the 2014 Argos Cheerleaders, presented by the Toronto Sun, food and beverages will be available, Argos interactive inflatables and much more.

The 2014 Argos Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar, presented by RedTag.ca, will be on-sale for the first time during the pre-game tailgate party. Fans can purchase their very own copy for just $20 from any of the beautiful and talented members of the 2014 Argos Cheerleaders during the tailgate or on the concourse during the game.

Canadian country music sensation Brett Kissel will headline halftime in a warm-up performance before he takes centre stage later this month at Boots and Hearts Music Festival. The Juno Award winner for Breakthrough Artist of the Year will meet fans and sign autographs on the concourse during the third quarter of the game!

Canadian pop artist Vita Chambers will perform the national anthem and, for the second year in a row, the Home Opener will be illuminated under the double blue glow of the CN Tower. Fans will be thrilled to witness the long awaited return of the legendary Argos Helmet Car to the sidelines.

In time for the Home Opener, the Toronto Argonauts, in partnership with the White Ribbon Campaign, Status of Women Canada and Tim Hortons, will unveil a special PSA for their newest program – Huddle Up & Make the Call. The powerful video addresses gender-based violence and will appear on the videoboard during the game. The PSA features Argos program leaders S Matt Black, LB James Yurichuk, OL Tyler Holmes and SB Andre Durie. Fans are encouraged to use to the hashtag #littleACTIONS to help bring awareness to gender-based violence.

Upon exit after the game, each fan will receive a special magnet displaying the Argonauts’ 2014 game schedule. Fans are encouraged to head over to Shoeless Joe’s Sports Grill at 276 King Street West after the game to celebrate at the Argos Official Post-Game Party!

After reading this ad, am I to go see an Argos game, pick up a cheerleader calendar, watch a music show or go support the white ribbon campaign?

I detest all Toronto based sports teams, wish they would all lose every game.
