BRONCOS OUSTED, NO SASK TEAMS LEFT

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. (CP) – Chad Labelle scored the winner 17:36 into the third period to give Medicine Hat a 2-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday and lift the Tigers into the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

Curtis Valk tied the game 2:11 into the third period with his fourth of the post-season for the Tigers, who took the series 4-2. They’ll play the Kootenay Ice in the next round.

Nathan Burns opened the scoring for Swift Current with his fourth at 9:35 of the second period. The Broncos were outshot 40-31.

Medicine Hat goaltender Marek Langhamer made 30 saves for the win. Swift Current’s Eetu Laurikainen stopped 38 shots in the loss.
