PATS 7 WARRIORS 3
MOOSE JAW, Sask.(CP) – Dmitry Sinitsyn had two goals and two assists and Morgan Klimchuk also scored twice as Regina downed the Warriors 7-3 at Mosaic Place Saturday night.
Chandler Stephenson, Kyle Burroughs and Dyson Stevenson also scored for the Pats (37-23-6) and Colby Williams chipped in with three assists.
Sam Fioretti and Brayden point had a goal and an assist each for Moose Jaw (17-39-9) and Tanner Eberle scored once.
Regina’s Daniel Wapple made 26 saves for the win while Zach Sawchenko turned away 23-of-30 shots for the Warriors.
The Pats host Edmonton Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm)

Can't fault the Pats for beating the opponents the league puts in front of them but I have a feeling their record and first place standing is a tad inflated. If I remember correctly and my math is right 17 of their 37 wins have come against Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Lethbridge. Cameron for Coach?? Lang for Executive??? The WHL East Division is akin to the old SouthEast Division in the NHL when the winner would be ranked the number three seed but wouldn't even be considered a challenger. What can you say? I knew I should have brought my broom. A clean sweep last evening at the Remple Temple. Stothers is hot headed and needs to move on. New coach in MJ needed for next season. Sam Steel looked great on the weekend. Good things aheads for the Pats. On a lighter note, don't ask Phil Andrews or Daniel Fink what the magic number is for the Pats to clinch first. Does anyone remember the MJ fans that would frequent this blog daily a year ago taunting the Pats? I do and find Karma funny.
The Southeast in the NHL was laughed at for years but they did have cup winners in Tampa and Carolina as well as finalists in Florida. It may not be as good as it was but at one time those teams were pretty good.
The pats record inflated maybe, but let's look at the big picture: has the team grown since the beginning of the year (yes) do we have elite players(yes) do we have the depth (yes) 3 solid lines has goaltending improved (yes). The only issue I see is defence and that has improved.
To the negative Nellys out there. Coach Cameron should win Coach of the Year hands down for one simple reason: Everyone, fans, media, and probably other teams in the WHL had the PATS to finish DEAD LAST this season. They are the only team in the East to have a wining record against the US teams, have beat Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, Kootenay, Medicine Hat etc. Is there another team in the WHL that is currently where they are in the standings that were not picked to be where or near where they are? as I look at there schedule from the year..
MJ beat them 2 times
SAS beat them 3 times
If SC had swept MJ & SAS as well they would be in 1st place by 3pts… so before you go flapping your mouth maybe get your facts straight 1st

Pretty sure my facts are fairly accurate – as I never mentioned anything specifically about Swift. I did say the whole division is bad, which is undeniable. And I am also fairly certain the Pats have a losing record against both Swift and Brandon.
I am still trying to figure out who the Pats elite players are. They have four or five good juniors but elite in the WHL means NHL futures. Klimchuck has a chance to play but after that ….
I might be missing something here but…… The Pats have 4 NHL drafted players. They have 4 players who will end up with 30+ goals. They have 11 players who have 30+ points and the possibility of two more. They have the second rated goalie in the East Division. They have the best coaching in the East division. They have the best record in the East division. They are the only team in the East division with a winning record on the road. So I guess a guy like Holmberg 107pts or Fiddler 92pts or Valk 81pts or Winquist 80pts as some examples are not considered WHL elite players just cause they wont go onto promising pro careers hey???? Elite players are in every league as they are that leagues top players, they dominate virtually every game they play in, just cause they are not high draft picks or draft picks at all doesn't make them not elite players in the WHL.
