SHERWOOD PARK 3 PAT C'S 1

The Regina Pat Canadians suffered their first loss at the Mac’s Midget Tournament in Calgary on Sunday, falling 3-1 to the Sherwood Park Kings.

The Kings controlled much of the game as they outshot the Canadians 27 to 16. Tyler Maltby opened the scoring for the Kings at 5:56 of the first period with an even-strength marker. Despite outshooting the Canadians by an 11 to 3 margin in the second period, the Kings were only able to muster their second goal of the game at 18:42 of the second period when Kings sniper Sam Steel scored.

The Kings sealed the win with an empty net goal with 42 seconds left in the game. Sherwood Park’s player of the game was Colby McCauley and Michael Eskra was Regina’s player of the game.

Regina is now 2-1-1.

Pats draft pick, Sam Steel scored twice in the game, also getting the empty netter.

So are the pat Canadians eliminated from the tournament now?
