The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today that long-time Blue Bomber linebacker Pierre-Luc Labbe is retiring, following six seasons in blue and gold.

“I’m very grateful for my time in the Canadian Football League and especially with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers,” said Labbe. “This is a great organization with great fans and I’m definitely going to miss everything about playing the game.”

“Pierre-Luc has been a significant part of our roster, not only where he excelled on special teams, but in the past few years he also played significant minutes on our defence,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “Off the field he is the prototypical, consummate professional, a great leader in the locker room and a good teammate. We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

Labbe played in 104 regular season games, two playoff games and one Grey Cup. He played in each of the Bombers last 84 regular season games, missing his last one on August 15, 2009. Labbe was drafted 47th overall in the 2008 Canadian Draft by Winnipeg.
