Week 21 CFL Picks For PUMPJACKS!
Four games. One final weekend. And major playoff implications in the West.
The 2026 Canadian Football League regular season reaches its conclusion this weekend, and while the Eastern Division playoff picture is settled, there is plenty left to determine out West. The Edmonton Elks have secured first place, while the BC Lions will host the Western Semi-Final. Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and Calgary are still caught up in a complicated playoff scenario that could send one team across to the East Division. Here is a look at all four matchups in Week 21:
Friday, October 23
Montreal Alouettes at Toronto Argonauts
7:00 p.m. ET · TSN, RDS2, CFL+
The defending strength of the Eastern Division, Montreal heads into the final weekend having secured first place and the right to host the Eastern Final. Toronto has already locked up second place and will host the Eastern Semi-Final, meaning neither club needs to chase a divisional position. That could make this an intriguing dress rehearsal, with both coaching staffs weighing the importance of momentum against the risk of injuries ahead of the playoffs. It’ll be Dustin Crum starting at QB for the Alouettes while Chad Kelly goes for Toronto as they look to tuneup for a possible East Division Final match-up at McGill.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at BC Lions
10:00 p.m. ET · TSN, CFL+
This is the weekend’s first major Western Division showdown, with Winnipeg arriving knowing that its playoff destiny hinges on the result. The Bombers need a victory to keep their hopes of securing the Western Semi-Final alive, although Saskatchewan’s result will also influence the final standings. BC has already clinched second place and will host a playoff game next weekend, but the Lions won’t want to lose their edge heading into the postseason. Still, back-up QB Kaiden Salter starts for the Leos and while you’d think that helps the Bombers’ case, Salter won in Winnipeg earlier this year. Winnipeg needs a strong performance from Zach Collaros and its offence, while the defence must contain BC’s ability to generate explosive plays. Expect the Bombers to play with urgency against a Lions team looking to finish the regular season on a high note.

Saturday, October 24
Ottawa Redblacks at Hamilton Tiger-Cats
3:00 p.m. ET · TSN, CFL+
Ottawa finally broke through with its first victory of the season last weekend, and the Redblacks will look to build on that breakthrough in their season finale. Rookie quarterback Bryson Barnes delivered a dramatic late touchdown to Ayden Eberhardt, giving Ottawa something positive to carry into the offseason. Hamilton returns from its bye week looking to finish a disappointing campaign with a home victory and a better feeling about its progress. The Tiger-Cats have the opportunity to take advantage of an Ottawa team that has struggled throughout the year, but they cannot afford to overlook an opponent playing with renewed confidence. Expect Hamilton to lean on its home-field advantage, although Ottawa could make this more competitive than many expect.

Edmonton Elks at Saskatchewan Roughriders
3:00 p.m. ET · TSN, RDS2, CFL+
This is arguably the weekend’s most consequential game, particularly for Saskatchewan, which has secured a playoff berth but still needs to determine its postseason destination. Edmonton has already clinched first place in the West and will host the Western Final, giving the Elks an opportunity to fine-tune their game before a week off. Saskatchewan, meanwhile, needs a win to secure the Western Semi-Final against BC, provided Winnipeg also wins its game. It’ll be another battle of the backups as Taylor Powell starts under centre for the Green & Gold while Jack Coan gets the ball for Saskatchewan.
A loss could force the Roughriders into the crossover, with the final scenario depending on Winnipeg’s result. The Riders will look to feed off their home crowd and deliver a statement performance against the division’s top team, but Edmonton has demonstrated the consistency to beat anyone in the league.
