NO MONAHAN FOR WORLD J’S

“The Calgary Flames Hockey Club will not be assigning Sean Monahan to join Team Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championships in Malmo, Sweden. We have spent a great deal of time discussing and debating the pros and cons of the situation in the context of what is best for Sean’s continued professional development as a hockey player, as well as what is in the best interests of our team, our fans, and our organization. We have concluded that in light of the prominent role Sean has played on our team to date, and the role we project he will continue to play once he returns from his injury, that Sean will remain with our hockey club. We have informed both Sean and Hockey Canada of our decision, and we wish Team Canada great success at the World Junior Championships.”

I am sure it's nothing more than coincidence that both Feaster and Burke are citizens of the United States. It makes you wonder if Monahan was an American citizen, would the decision made still be the same? Would he have been loaned to the USA juniors?

Calgary sucks and isn't going anywhere. The Minnesota Wild are doing much better but still felt they could see fit to loan Dumba to the Canadian program.

I don't think this decision passes the smell test no matter how much BS they use to justify it.

a) Monahan has been one of their better players and has been getting solid minutes, why should they send him to the WJHC?

b) Sieloff on the AHL team is not being made available to team USA for the WJHC either

The Calgary Flames suck and they are not competing for anything other than their draft pick. Monahan would be a huge addition to the Jr's as he is already a proven NHLer. Sieloff…well not so much.

Minnesota is a class organization to let Dumba go. Calgary……..!

Monahan is Calgarys second leading scorer and plays big minutes… He's also just working through an injury. You are comparing that to Dumba? C'mon man.

Has nothing to do with being a class organization or not. One was being used by his NHL club one wasn’t

Minnesota isn’t using Dumba much as he has been a healthy scratch for plenty of games and when he is playing he’s only averaging 12 minutes a game.

Monahan was in the lineup every game and was playing 17 to 19 minutes a game before being injured.

Sieloff has a serious internal infection and has not played for over a month and a half and is at risk to miss most of the season.

Monahan is at best week to week with an injury and would be at risk of missing most of the tournament if not risk of re-injury.

Flames are being very smart to protect their assets for the future.

Why is there no issue with Colorado and Washington not sending their eligible players to Canada? No conspiracy there…

To bad, it's about the only winning the kid will see for years. Calgary and Edmonton, two hopeless franchises. Hope they never win.
