TUESDAY SHOW RECAP
Tuesday’s show was Episode #32 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:
- Rod and Dupes were joined in the bunker for the Warmup by Riders, Stamps and Ticats alum Marshall Hamilton. They looked back at Week 5 in the CFL and discussed the latest news in the league including the firing of Kavis Reed in Montreal.
- During the show, news came down that Ticats LB Simoni Lawrence had his 2-game suspension upheld by an independent arbitrator. The whole process took weeks and Marshall said expediting the arbitration process should be a top priority for CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie this off-season.
- The trio debated whether the Riders were too hasty in giving up on QB Vernon Adams Jr since the diminutive pivot has led Montreal to back-to-back wins. They agreed that hindsight is 20/20 and the decision was the appropriate one at the time.
- The crew also discussed the upcoming home-and-home series between the Roughriders and BC Lions. The consensus was that this Saturday’s game at Mosaic Stadium is definitely a must-win for the Green & White.
- BC Lions scout and franchise icon Geroy Simon joined the show via video chat from the Lions practice facility in Surrey and regarding their 1-4 start, Simon shrugged “the players simply need to play better”.
- Geroy also outlined his upcoming scouting trip throughout NFL training camps and mentioned that he’s eagerly anticipating his trip to Kansas City. Simon said he hasn’t been at Arrowhead Stadium since the Chiefs cut him in 2001.
- TSN NHL Insider Darren Dreger joined the show via video chat from his home in Toronto and discussed the wedding he attended in Langenburg, SK this past weekend. Dregs recalled that he was born in Red Deer, but his family moved to Yorkton due to his Dad’s job with Sask Wheat Pool and he thinks fondly of his childhood in Saskatchewan. He also updated the crew on the latest news in the NHL.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre Poll was: Do you enjoy Thursday Night games in the CFL? The whopping majority of respondents said that they do.
- Producer Clark had some fun with the FaceApp which is the rage across Canada this week and aged the images of Rod and Dupes. They joked that’s how much they’ve aged waiting on the Simoni Lawrence decision!
- Wednesday’s guest list includes Derek “Duke” Meyers, Rider great John Chick, the CFL on TSN’s Dustin Neilsen and Stampeders blogger Ryan Ballantine.
