We covered it all on Tuesday’s Episode #222 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes got it going with The Rollout for Flooring Superstore covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Rod’s Mt. Rushmore of Canadian athletes (Wayne Gretzky, Steve Nash, Lionel Conacher and Catriona Lemay Doan), 2) Will there be a CFL season?, 3) The Patriots are the leading team for the services of free agent QB Cam Newton, 4) Episodes 3 & 4 of The Last Dance dropped Monday night on Netflix, 5) Battlefords and Melfort have advanced to the semifinals of the SJHL SIM playoffs, and 6) The future of the AHL.
  • NFL/CFL alum DeQuinn Evans joined the show from his home in Tacoma, WA. The 2014 Grey Cup champion discussed his tough upbringing in Compton, CA and being a member of the famed Gridiron Gang prison football team while he was just a teen. He discussed being incarcerated four times during his teen years and how he turned his life around to make it to the NFL, spending three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. DQ talked about how he now mentors youth and young football players and Rod mentioned, “I’ve never met a strong person with an easy past”.
  • Manitoba Moose forward J.C. Lipon joined the show and reported that he’s in the process of leaving Winnipeg for his hometown of Regina amid the pandemic. The guys discussed the immediate future of the AHL, and J.C.’s career. The former Kamloops Blazer and Canadian World Junior said his favourite road city is Austin, Texas. He also said it’s a shame if the AHL season ends, as he’s on pace for a career year but basically because hockey players just love to play.
  • In Hour 2 the guys ventured over to the curling world and chatted with Colton Flasch and Catlin Schneider of Saskatchewan’s other curling super team. The panel discussed how the team came together (Flasch left Alberta’s Team Koe and Schneider left Team Dunstone) and the current landscape of Sask mens curling. They also discussed the flourishing rivalry between Team Flash and Team Dunstone.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre daily poll question was: Who wins championships: Players or Organizations? At press time the result was 60/40 in favour of the players. Rod went into great detail on the back story behind the question
