CFL SIM: EDMONTON 14 OTTAWA 6
EDMONTON – The Edmonton Eskimos are off to a hot start under new virtual head coach Scott Milanovich. Trevor Harris threw for 159 yards and Sean Whyte booted four field goals as the Eskimos downed the Ottawa RedBlacks 14-6 Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium in Week 2 CFL SIM action.
In a computer-simulated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, it turned out to be a costly afternoon for Ottawa (0-2). Prized off-season acquisition QB Nick Arbuckle was knocked out of the game in the first quarter by Eskimos D-lineman Kwaku Boateng who notched three sacks on the day.
In relief, Dominique Davis went 13/19 for 173 yards and an interception. WR DeAndrew Farris led the RedBlacks with 56 yards on three receptions as Ottawa continues to look for its first win under new virtual head coach Paul LaPolice. Kicker Lewis Ward was 2/2 on field goals.
WR Kevin Elliott had a decent day for the Green & Gold catching six passes for 58 yards as Trevor Harris exacted some revenge on his former club. Ricky Collins Jr. tallied 42 yards on three grabs while Greg Ellingson caught just one pass for 24. Running back Brandon Burks led in the rushing department with 18 yards on four receptions. Stefon Diggs ended any hope of an Ottawa comeback with an interception late in the fourth quarter.
The RedBlacks will enjoy a bye in Week 3 while the Eskimos visit BC (0-2) in the Lions’ home-opener on Saturday, June 27 at BC Place.
